Café Kaawa Cafeteria + Expendio — A super cozy breakfast spot near beautiful Punta Esmeralda beach. Amazing specialty coffee from rare Mexican beans and fresh pastries — don't miss the almond croissant.

Trattoria del Centro — Charming little Italian place in a hidden courtyard, with great food and live music in the evenings.

FRANCESCA The Italian Bakery — Real Italian coffee, incredible desserts, and maybe the best pistachio croissants in town. Lovely atmosphere and very warm service.

Zenzi Beach — Beautiful beachfront restaurant with amazing ceviche, live music and dancing at night. Sit right on the sand or under the shaded terrace with ocean views.

El Fogón — A Playa classic featured in the Michelin Guide, and for good reason. Don't leave without trying the arrachera tacos.

Casa Sofia (Playacar) — Casual and affordable Italian spot with great homemade wine. Huge bonus for families — they have a kids' playroom with wonderful staff.

Lara&Luca Playa del Carmen — One of our favorite breakfast and lunch places. Beautiful dishes and great options for everyone.

Bendita Costilla — Fantastic steakhouse with live fire in the center of the restaurant. Portions are huge — easy to share. The ribs are a must. Book ahead at night.

Ah Cacao Chocolate Cafe — For amazing hot or iced cacao, coffee drinks and delicious Mexican chocolate. Great for edible souvenirs too.

Sushi Roll Playa del Carmen — Great sushi spot with lots of options and a small kids' area. Bonus: Monday through Wednesday it's two rolls for the price of one.
